  1. Philosophical and Anthropological Vision of the Idea of Spirituality in Isaac Asimov’s Foundation Trilogy.S. K. Kostiuchkov & A. V. Vorobiova - 2024 - Anthropological Measurements of Philosophical Research 26:94-103.

    On the extent of cognitivism.V. P. J. Arponen - 2013 - History of the Human Sciences 26 (5):27-30.
In this article, cognitivism is understood as the view that the engine of human action is the intentional, dispositional, or other mental capacities of the brain or the mind. Cognitivism has been criticized for considering the essence of human action to reside in its alleged source in mental processes at the expense of the social surroundings of the action, criticism that has often been inspired by Ludwig Wittgenstein's later philosophy. This article explores the logical extent of the critique of cognitivism, (...)

    Hereditarily structurally complete modal logics.V. V. Rybakov - 1995 - Journal of Symbolic Logic 60 (1):266-288.
We consider structural completeness in modal logics. The main result is the necessary and sufficient condition for modal logics over K4 to be hereditarily structurally complete: a modal logic λ is hereditarily structurally complete $\operatorname{iff} \lambda$ is not included in any logic from the list of twenty special tabular logics. Hence there are exactly twenty maximal structurally incomplete modal logics above K4 and they are all tabular.

  24. Locke on the intellectual basis of sin.V. C. Chappell - 1994 - Journal of the History of Philosophy 32 (2):197-207.
The Essay concerning Human Understanding was published at the end of 1689.1 It sold well, and within three years Locke was planning revisions for a second edition. Among those whose “advice and assistance” he sought was the Irish scientist William Molyneux. Locke had begun a correspondence with Molyneux a few months before, after the latter had lavishly praised the Essay and its author in the Epistle Dedicatory of his own Dioptrica Nova, published early in 1692. Here was a man, Locke (...)

    When Equilibrium is Disturbed.V. V. Molchanov - 1977 - Russian Studies in Philosophy 16 (1):93-100.
In the theses published in Voprosy filosofii there is, in my view, one very important question: What changes have occurred in the relations between art and science? Inasmuch as I am a scholar of foreign cultures, permit me to express that question a bit more concretely for myself: What changes have occurred in the West in the interactions between art and science? The question is rather complex, for in responding to it one must always take into consideration the factor of (...)

Hegel's teachings on the state, law, and society constitute a philosophy of law and were developed by him as the philosophy of the objective spirit. In addition to providing a basis for historically concrete views on political matters, the Hegelian philosophy of law, as an application of dialectics to a specific realm of subject matter in societal, governmental, and political-legal phenomena, contains the logic of that realm of subject matter. The independent meaning of this domain of research transforms logic and (...)

To base oneself upon a scientific philosophy is often of great importance in framing and solving major problems in natural science, including the science of the universe at large. Moreover, one's approach to the solution of specific problems arising in natural science depends to an extent upon one's philosophy. This situation points the way to the elimination of certain preconceived notions and erroneous convictions of researchers, that is, those due to an inadequate knowledge of philosophy or to the influence of (...)

How to model the world?: Michael Weisberg: Simulation and similarity. Using models to understand the world. New York: Oxford University Press, 2013, 224pp, $58.25 HB.V. S. Pronskikh - 2014 - Metascience 23 (3):597-601.
Simulation and Similarity is a novel and comprehensive account of, in first place, models and modeling. The author’s writing is exceptionally clear and intelligible. Simulation is referred to in the book only once, where it is defined as a kind of numerical analysis involving “computing the behavior of the model using a particular set of initial conditions” (82). Modeling, which is defined as “the indirect study of real-world systems via the construction and analysis of models” (4), appears to be the (...)

Russian Culture and the Phenomenon of Violence.V. D. Gubin - 1998 - Russian Studies in Philosophy 37 (1):86-89.
Violence is a natural human state, a natural means of communication between one individual and another and it will remain so as long as society is in the stage of its "animal" evolution, as long as man in the mass remains, as Nietzsche put it, a "superchimpanzee." Violence is natural, and goodness and altruism are artificial; one must make a great effort to be good. To be good is an art. There are no laws that make us love one another. (...)
